Coming soon, the a MUD near you: From the deserts of Har’Akir comes the
primordial worms, those who would consume the world!

I will be seeking testers for a worm-refresh next week and potentially
taking up to three. Testers will not get to keep their test character and
will be asked to raise the character without using buffs/exploits. I will
make a discord for discussion.


Hey Burlok? What’s this worm all about?!

The worm has been the subject of recent discussion with long-time,
experienced, players calling for itsremoval due to perception that its
*broken* some recent changes made it viable but didnt solve the core
issues reported to me which were:


1- The worm essentially only has one active skill people use in *swallow*.
So its not fun unless that one skill allows it to efficiently grind. Would
be nice if other skills worked together or were viable with swallow.


2- The class-fantasy for worm at high levels is a massive beast and being
able to swallow only 3 smurfs at 19+7 is sad-emoji. Would be cool if a
worm grows and can really swallow villages of low level mobs.


3- The swallow damage-healing make it difficult to balance. Theres no
greater threat from swallowing 1 person vs swallowing 20 (not 3) persons
as the only factor is whether you can do slightly more damage to each foe
then they do to you. If so, youll stay healed and win. If its not enough
healing then you die to an equal level foe and its impossible to play (se
point 1).


4-The biggest threat to a worm is hunting-hits. That sucks because their
spit-mechanic largely random. Cant the biggest threat be the skills,
spells, and abilities that their opponents actually possess?


The class refresh is intended to be a big dumb tank-of-a-class. Swallow is
a core component but more active skills such as bile (completely
rewritten) and tenderize are what really does the work. So its a bit
easier to balance. I think ive addressed all of the above including
hunting hits. When you spit due to damage (not randomly) rather than
hunting you take that spike of damage over several rounds instead of all
at once. Giving them a tanky feel.


Much testing is needed. Read more about whats coming with *help worm2*
will be looking for testers soon.
