Centaur
Centaurs are a race of woodland beings which are part human and part horse. They have the upper torso, arms, and head of a human, and the lower body of a large, powerful horse. Centaurs are considered primitive by many 'civilized' races, as their society is tribal and very animistic. They are, however, some of the most competent bowmen and hunters in the realm.
Their horse bodies are strong and healthy, though they can be awkward in tight spaces. Centaurs are at home in the open grasslands, hills, and forests, and they fight well there; they get uncomfortable when they can't see the sky.
Because of their body structure, centaurs cannot wear boots or most normal metal body armour. Suits of centaur-shaped barding can be found or forged, however, as can horseshoes.
Their strong association with the natural world leaves centaurs with a set of bones and hooves that weaken quickly after death.
As half-horse creatures, centaur have a number of advantages. Their strong backs are suitable for carrying extra gear, as well as riders - centaurs can 'permit' almost anyone with the ride skill to mount up on their backs. Their extra legs give them the leverage needed to wield large (two-handed) weapons in one hand. They sometimes use those same legs to attack, getting extra hoof-strikes on their opponents. Lastly, centaurs are natural runners, and can often keep running even when wounded.
