| Centaurs are a race of woodland beings which are part human and part horse.

| They have the upper torso, arms, and head of a human, and the lower body of
| |
| a large, powerful horse. Centaurs are considered primitive by many
| |
| 'civilized' races, as their society is tribal and very animistic. They
| |
| are, however, some of the most competent bowmen and hunters in the realm.

| Their horse bodies are strong and healthy, though they can be awkward in
| |
| tight spaces. Centaurs are at home in the open grasslands, hills, and
| |
| forests, and they fight well there; they get uncomfortable when they can't
| |
| see the sky.

| Because of their body structure, centaurs cannot wear boots or most normal
| |
| metal body armour. Suits of centaur-shaped barding can be found or forged,
| |
| however, as can horseshoes.

| Their strong association with the natural world leaves centaurs with a set

| of bones and hooves that weaken quickly after death.

| As half-horse creatures, centaur have a number of advantages. Their strong

| backs are suitable for carrying extra gear, as well as riders - centaurs
| |
| can 'permit' almost anyone with the ride skill to mount up on their backs.
| |
| Their extra legs give them the leverage needed to wield large (two-handed)
| |
| weapons in one hand. They sometimes use those same legs to attack, getting
| |
| extra hoof-strikes on their opponents. Lastly, centaurs are natural
| |
| runners, and can often keep running even when wounded.
