New page

Originally Posted : Fri May 25 14:55:18 2007
Posted by : Fingolfin
Title : End Game

End Game

The end game of Tsunami was never planned, who could
have forseen we would endure for 17 years. A game,
by its nature, has a beginning and an ending. These
persistant games are a novelty in game theory. Most
for-profit games merely seek to endure until the designers
roll out the next game, and support flags. It is a testament
to our coders past and present that our game endures.

The Hero system actually works quite well, the scaling
gets atrocious, and most of our large level players simply
use their >+8's to facilitate their alts. Alt-twinking
is a device to retai players, all MMO utilize this, and we
are no different. Large characters and game knowledge *should*
facilitate faster alt raising. If every alt were a painful grind
even our most ardent players would vanish in boredom.

High end areas should challenge the high end players. There
has been a ton of yammering about Kyldiss. Had it been planned
in 1995 to endure for 2007 the mobs would have scaled automatically.
OK, so, I didn't plan it. Sorry. But it is our right to
continually make modifications to the game. Administrators
learn to, we arent born with infallible knowledge. The few
people who engaged Kyldiss as it was meant to be done have
enjoyed it immensely and Im happy for that. Those who see it as
the root of all evil, well, sorry for that, if you have something
constructive to say, offer it in a amicable attitude of willingness
to help, you'd be amazed at the response from me or any other volunteer
wizard when we sense you want o help and are interested not in
selfish gain but a genuine love for this shared environment.

Ego was removed about 4 years ago becuase of a large number of
problems it generated and its serious lack of transparency. This
of course led to other problems, namely overpowered twinking.
So, last night I added code to support minimum weapon and armour
levels, that relate exactly what level you must be to use an item.
Transparent and simple. 4 years too late? Maybe, but well see
how it plays out.

I started one a few of the more obvious items adding minimum level
code. Some you won't like, some you will, overall I hope it
helps the experience and I hope it revitalizes a primary use of
enchanters. Also, people will now investigate other alternate items
instead of using the exact same items over and over. Gear progression
is always fun.

Anyways, hope the wall of text didnt crit you for 10000 damage.

Lots of love,
Fin

br>

[[Category:Changes_Board]]
