Atlas:

This page is an overview of Tsunamis features.

Player killing
Wars
War
On Tsunami we have something called wars when players get the opportunity
to test their skills against one another over a large battlefield.
There are two different kinds of war on tsunami however,
there are Twars and then there are Shutdown wars.

Twars can be started at any time and players who have joined the war channel
are notified and can vote between several different game modes.
After the war players who participated recieve a reward based on how many points
they scored in the war. Points are gained as you kill other players, had done damage
to a player that someone killed, or your team wins the war.

Shutdown wars is an old tradition on tsunami that reboots
the mud and when players log back on they are waiting in the war preperation room
where they can vote on team, leader or individual war.
In this type of war players face one another with their normal characters and levels
which means there's typically a spread in levels. It is however custom to log characters
that can be matched so there's no heavily favoured side.
The shutdown wars offer rewards to anyone participating and increases based on
points scored which is gained by killing or still being alive at the end of the war.

Pk
Player killing
Pk is a part of tsunami and there's no pk off option, HOWEVER
the way our pk system is setup players only compete with eachother
to climb the pk ranks, which offers a bonus based on the ranking.
So if you don't want to participate in pking, there are atleast no loss other than a
slight inconvenience in case you were in the middle of something.
You will not lose anything from dieing to a player and there's no
incentive for other players to kill you as long as you don't pk
yourself.

Quests and exploration
Quests

Puzzle quests
Do you enjoy solving quests that are challenging to figure out?
Good, tsunami offers plenty of those and if you get stuck on one
you can move on to another until you can approach the one you got stuck
on with fresh ideas.
They come in all sizes and the difficulties vary!

Kill quests
kill quest
You prefer killing things rather than figuring them out?
Yes we have those too! A killing quest is typically a quest that requires
you to kill a certain amount of a specific npc or within a specific area.

Exploration
Your exploration on Tsunami is tracked, you can see how much of an area
you have managed to explore and how much of our total world at any time.
There is a top explorer list where players can compare their scores with one
another, there are even rewards available based on the percentage explored.
This feature was implemented many years ago and the current top player
has slightly over 93% explored.

Houses
Houses
You want your own house that can be upgraded with bodyguards and safe deposits
among other things? We have that!

Shops
Would you fancy managing your own shop on Tsunami, adjusting prices and selecting
what items or heals your shop should offer from a long list?
Then you'll like the shop system we offer!
There are two different type of shops that one can setup, item or heal shops and no
shop is the same as the next. The owner customizes his unique shop and offer different
items at different prices, just dont forget to restock once in a while or even your
most loyal customers might give up on you!

Autobalance
Autobalance is an effort to automatically adjust the experience gained by killing
different types of npcs. Based on how often the specific subclass is killed relative
to others it will have a rarity bonus experience when killed, some are worth more
experience because players avoid them while some might have a bonus because they are
rare, which is an incentive to explore in order to locate them don't you think?

Meta games
A strange concept, meta games on Tsunami refers to games within the game.
We have yahtzee and poker but most interesting of all is Tsunami's own card game
Magewar! As you kill npcs they will occasionally drop magewar cards of different
rarity and color. Your cards can be used to make your own deck with which you can
play against other players!
Magewar is similar to magic the gathering though with it's own unique cards and
somewhat different rules, don't hesitate to try it out! Some appreciate the
card collecting more than the actual game though once you start playing you will notice
what a surprisingly solid game it actually is.
There is also a magewar cardstore where cards can be bought and sold, so if you're
looking for a specific card that would fit into your deck check it out!

Invasions
Invasions
A fun feature on Tsunami is the invasion event that occurs every now and then,
typically once or more every day.
There is a huge amount of precoded invasions with original and thematic invaders
that players can view using magic mirrors to try and track them down based on the
description of the rooms the different invaders inhabit as the player views them.
After the invasion has been repelled players are rewarded very nicely based on
how many points they managed to score (based on kills and levels).

Wide range of subclasses
Currently Tsunami has over 60 different subclasses to choose from
that are all unique. The precise number of subclasses may vary as new subclasses
are added, some are rewritten and updated while some, sadly, are removed.
Rest assured that original subclasses is something that Tsunami really excels
at however!

Atlas:

Welcome to Tsunami MUD!

Since this is unlikely your first MUD, the quickest way to get you started
is to talk about some of the major aspects unique to Tsunami:

Starting areas
Please see newbie areas for a nice list
of newbie areas to start your adventures.

Wars
Every so often, the MUD shuts down and comes back up in
"war mode". The war lasts until there is a victorious
player or team, and the MUD will then restart and come
back in "normal" mode for an extended period of time.

All participants are awarded experience or gold, and
the better you do, the more you get.

To see when the next war is scheduled to start see the
wartime command. To learn more about wars, please see
the war help file.

Experience
You do not need to go to a guild hall to raise your
stats, skills, spells, songs or prayers. As you kill
monsters, play wars and do quests you earn "spendable"
experience. This may be spent to raise stats, skills,
spells and so on, using the [exp] command. (see [help exp]).
You start off with 2,000 spendable experience points.

To see your current stat and skill levels, see the
Stats, skills, spells, prayers and songs
commands. (Note your class may not have all of
these.)
Note: spending experience does not subtract from the
"total" experience you have gained, only "spendable"
experience. Your level is determined by your "total"
experience. Please see [help exp] for more information
on the exp command and levels for more information
on levels.

Basic commands
For a full listing of commands available to you, see :Category:Commands

:
Kill - Attack a monster or player
:
Score - Find out about yourself
:
Exp - Enter "exp" mode (spend your experience)
:
Look or l - Look at your room or an object
:
Town - A free teleport to town (until lvl 10)
:
Do - Perform a skill (see Skills)
:
Cast - Cast a spell (see Spells)
:
Pray - Perform a prayer (see prayers)
:
Sing - Sing a song (see [songs])
:
Tell - Send a private message to a player
:
Shout - Shout a message to the whole MUD
:
Chat - Talk on the "chat" channel (see [channels])
Again, see Commands for all of your
available commands with brief help text.
Substitution variable that exist are:
*$* - Will be substituted with everything after the verb.
Another example: 'alias k kill $*' will expand 'k dealer' to 'kill dealer'
However it is not required as 'alias k kill' will also expand 'k dealer' to
'kill dealer'

A better example of the use of the $* follows.
'alias sizeup consider $* sizeup'
This will take any argument after typing sizeup and feed it into the alias :
'sizeup dog' -> 'consider dog sizeup'
'sizeup smurf 3' -> 'consider smurf 3 sizeup'
Terrains indicate what the environment in the room is like, whether
it's a flat plain or rugged mountains, heavy forest or deep underwater.
There are a number of possible terrain types, and there can be many
in a particular room (an underground pool, for instance, or a road in
the middle of a jungle).

Most races have combat modifiers based on the local terrain. This
represents the race's comfort level in a particular terrain, and its
ability to use the terrain to its benefit. A positive modifier means
you will deal more damage in normal combat, while a negative modifier
means you will deal less.
They have the upper torso, arms, and head of a human, and the lower body of
a large, powerful horse. Centaurs are considered primitive by many
'civilized' races, as their society is tribal and very animistic. They

Their horse bodies are strong and healthy, though they can be awkward in
forests, and they fight well there; they get uncomfortable when they can't
Their strong association with the natural world leaves centaurs with a set
of bones and hooves that weaken quickly after death.
As half-horse creatures, centaur have a number of advantages. Their strong
can 'permit' almost anyone with the ride skill to mount up on their backs.
Their extra legs give them the leverage needed to wield large (two-handed)
weapons in one hand. They sometimes use those same legs to attack, getting
extra hoof-strikes on their opponents. Lastly, centaurs are natural
runners, and can often keep running even when wounded.|

Elves tend to live in the forests of Tsunami, studying the vast array of
flora and fauna. They have a deep respect for nature, and have come to
understand it in great detail. This results in an intelligence that is
quite higher than humans. The elven race is not generally known for its
fighting abilities, but elves are endowed with the abilities to use bows
and swords exceptionally well. Ask any Orc that has tried to kill an elf
in the woods and you'd know that they are exceptionally difficult to find!

The elven lifespan can span many human generations. Though the reasons are
not completely understood, it is thought that it is related to fact that
elves are exceedingly hard to resurrect after they die. Elves have the
are covered in small, multi-colored scales. While they may not provide

Merfolk are known for their incredible voices. Many a sailor has been
Recent generations of merfolk have developed an innate magical ability:
their unliving parent. These beings are shunned by both living and Undead,
not truly fitting into either world. Humans fear them, while vampires look
down on them, calling them halfbloods.

Danpiru look human except for their red eyes, elongated canines, and sharp,
while others hate their heritage, even going so far as to hunt down the
vampires that gave them their cursed existence.

Their not-quite-fully-alive nature gives them advantages over normal men.
They can see in the dark. They can 'drain' a corpse, much like a vampire.
They have some resistance to a vampire's mesmerizing abilities. They take
take extra damage from holy attacks, and fight poorly on holy ground. They
tend toward evil, and have a hard time improving their alignment. Most
importantly: some part of their being will reject any sort of healing they
receive, slightly reducing the benefit they get from most heals. This also
No one is really sure where flind came from. There have been rumors that
they are the result of a failed magical experiment with humans and dogs.
They stand about the same height as humans, with the head and face of a
canine.

Flind are somewhat stronger than humans, but seem to be a little less
healthy, which was a flaw of the experiment that supposedly created them.
They are a little smarter than the average human, but much more clumsy due
to the odd combination of human and canine qualities. Flind prefer to use
blunt weapons, and seem to do so with a better skill than that of edged
weapons.

Because of all the fur on their bodies, they seem to take a little more
damage from fire based attacks, and a little less damage from cold based
attacks. Also, flind are unable to wear helmets because of their snouts,
and boots because of their paws.

Due to their partial, animalistic nature, flind have good night sight in
all conditions.|
Halflings are extremely gregarious and outgoing creatures, with round,
childlike faces; big, affable grins; and extremely hairy feet. They stand
about 3 feet tall, and otherwise appear to be very small humans. They are

Halflings are masterful merry-makers and deeply enjoy the Good Things in
tellers in the realm. They also love a really bad joke, especially if it's
at the expense of the 'big folk'. These jests often involve a well-placed
taunt, or the pocketing of small 'misplaced' goods.

Halflings are peace-loving by nature, and are particularly inoffensive and
